Nick’s presentation will be on fishing New Mexico’s Rio Grande and Red River.
“Explore one of the west’s last undiscovered rivers and learn about different sections, access points and strategies. Discover how the Rio Grande del Norte Monument came to exist as a public lands victory, and how a small Trout Unlimited chapter is helping save a mining town and a river.”
Nick, along with his wife Chrissy, opened the Taos Fly Shop in 2004 and also run the guide service that operates from the shop. Nick has been guiding for over 20 years and was a member of the 1998 Junior Fly Fishing Team USA. He has fished and guided from Alaska to Argentina, and is known for his passion to teach anglers of all skill levels through classes and guiding. Nick also owns The Reel Life in Santa Fe.
Nick has also done considerable volunteer work for conservation groups like Trout Unlimited and the Wildlife Federation. In recent years, Nick was the driving force behind the Red River Habitat improvement project, which raised nearly 1 million dollars for habitat restoration on the Lower Red River.
Nick is the son of famed fly fisherman Taylor Streit, who has guided anglers in Northern New Mexico since the late ‘70s and literally wrote the book on fly fishing New Mexico. His uncle Jackson owns and operates The Mountain Angler in Breckenridge, Co and has authored the book Fly Fishing Colorado.
